About Qurbani Charity
A small team arranging Sunnah Qurbani in rural Bangladesh for Muslims in the West.
We are Muslims living in the West. For years, Eid al-Adha left us with the same question: was our Qurbani really done the way the Prophet ﷺ taught? Most commercial meat here comes from abattoirs that stun animals first. When we gave through large charities, we rarely knew where our animal was, who slaughtered it or who ate the meat.
So we started something small. We arrange Qurbani (Udhiyah) in rural Bangladesh, where people we know buy healthy animals of the right age at local markets. After the Eid prayer they slaughter them by hand, facing the Qibla, saying Bismillahi Allahu Akbar. There is no stunning.
Who gets the meat
Rohingya refugee families in the camps around Cox’s Bazar, and widows, orphans, older people and the poorest households in nearby villages. The meat is handed out fresh, usually on the day of slaughter or the day after.
How we keep it honest
- Every reservation gets a reference number.
- We send you photos and video of your animal and the distribution.
- 90% of each donation goes to the animal, the slaughter and the distribution. 10% covers transport and running costs.
- We work only in Bangladesh, so we can supervise every animal ourselves.
- We are not a registered 501(c)(3), and donations are not tax-deductible. We would rather tell you that up front.
